Technology - Doing Well by Doing Good
Techno-Philanthropy: What is it?
Technology has created and continues to provide countless benefits to its providers, creators, and its consumers. Technological advances have produced abundant societal good by making available information, resources, and energy globally to disadvantaged communities. The direction of benefits in each case has remained 'one-to-many'; one benefactor (for example, an individual or an organization) providing resources to hundreds or even millions of beneficiaries.

TechnoPhilanthropist is focused on raising awareness about and create an active interest in a model of 'many to many' - many benefactors to many beneficiaries - effectively, crowd-sourcing philanthropy. The site aims at providing vetted and valid information on charity organizations of interest to anyone for supporting and a direct way to engage as a volunteer or a donor via my companion crowd-sourced funding campaign.

About Me
My name is Om Chhaya. I am a Sophomore in the Quarry Lane School, Dublin, California. My interest in technology goes back to my learning programming since 5th grade and designing games with Python. I have dabbled at robotics and am learning to compose electronic music.
I first witnessed abject poverty when I visited streets of Central Kolkata and saw entire families living on the sidewalks with almost no belongings and barely enough to eat. So I started reading about organizations that help the disadvantaged. My parents' friends also forwarded me with information about these 'non-government organizations' (NGOs) that have excellent reputations because of their award-winning work. Since I live in the US, I decided to do the next best thing to being a serving member of these NGOs by creating this initiative. What you see on this page and its companion crowdfunding site is the result of that. I hope to create more awareness to the great work being done by these humanitarian organizations as well as provide information on how to get involved.
